Valeria Torres, program coordinator

Valeria provides administrative support for CLP’s guided pathways team and administrative coordination for the organization. She found her passion for equity in education attending San Joaquin Delta College, where she participated in the Puente organization and tutored and mentored elementary through high school students.

Valeria worked as an intervention specialist at an elementary school in Oakland, through the organization Lincoln, where she provided solution-focused counseling and crisis intervention and facilitated therapeutic groups to help clients improve their anger management and social skills and manage symptoms of anxiety and depression. She also planned and led client outings, completed MediCal documentation, and developed behavior plans for clients to reduce their disruptive behavior in the classroom and the community. Valeria earlier volunteered in Cambodia as a teacher of English as a second language.

She holds bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Chicano/a Studies from the University of California, Davis, and she is bilingual in Spanish and English.
