Reimagining counseling and student services: A workshop

July 11th 2019 - Uncategorized

For teams of faculty, staff, and administrators working at all levels across California to improve student outcomes, this year’s first Guided Pathways workshop offers tested, innovative approaches.

Save the date, Sept. 27! (Register here.)

Presenters will engage participants in learning about creating new systems, embedding counseling in pathways, and redesigning supports so they’re grounded in equity. They are practitioners from four community colleges across California who are using the practices they’ll discuss—and are achieving promising results in Guided Pathways reform.

  • WHO: College teams could include counseling faculty; student support staff; vice presidents of student services; Guided Pathways team members; and deans of counseling, equity, student services, EOP&S, and special populations.
  • WHEN: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 27
  • WHERE: Fresno (DoubleTree Hotel downtown)
  • WHAT: Participants will learn directly from colleagues at other colleges about their successful innovations, false starts, and new student support practices that are improving student experiences and outcomes.

Additional statewide workshops on other topics in Guided Pathways redesign will be offered in Sacramento in February and Irvine in April. At each workshop, each college team will have a chance to apply what they learn in facilitated planning discussions and start building momentum toward reform on their campus.

This Guided Pathways workshop is produced by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, IEPI, and Career Ladders Project.
