Black Student Success in Dual Enrollment: A Case Study

October 29, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The research is clear that Black and Latinx students benefit greatly from taking college classes while in high school (dual enrollment). Yet despite an increase statewide in overall dual enrollment participation, Black and Latinx students have the lowest participation rate. Colleagues from Mt. Miguel High School and Cuyamaca College will share how their partnership has fostered Black student success through design and student supports.

Presenters:
Dr. Naomi Castro, Senior Director, Career Ladders Project
Laurencia Walker, CLP consultant and Director of Student Readiness, Hartnell College
Mark Jeffers, Early College Coordinator, Mount Miguel High School
Ariane Ahmadian, Admission and Records Specialist, Cuyamaca College
