April 24, 2017

CLP will be presenting at the National Council of La Raza‘s annual Workforce Development Forum to be held in Las Vegas this coming September in a session titled “Designing and Scaling College and Career Pathways for Opportunity Youth.” Elisha Smith-Arrillaga will present on CLP’s work with SIATech, a network of fully accredited public charter high schools focusing on dropout recovery for opportunity youth ages 16-24.

Elisha, SIATech Superintendent Linda Dawson, and her team will outline how CLP and SIATech are partnering to design college and career pathways for students in alternative settings, such as Job Corps and independent study programs for students across the country. At the interactive workshop, participants will learn how to design pathways and activities that link to college and career for students in noncomprehensive high schools in their own communities. Participants will walk away with sample logic models and work plans for expanding college and career pathways across sites as well as flow charts that can be used to create elements of pathways. They will also receive resources they can use in their own organizations to start conversations with students about how to build bridges to college and career.

Resources from the session will be made available after the event.
