Design it – Build it – Ship it (DBS) is a 4-year, $14.9 million U.S. Department of Labor-funded initiative in the East Bay under the Obama Administration’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College Career Training (TAACCCT) program.
Collaborating with local community colleges, public workforce systems, regional employers and the economic development community, DBS aims to build a stronger and more responsive training system that will aid students and unemployed adults to train for jobs that regional employers find difficult to fill. When these systems successfully align, students and incumbent workers can earn credentials that allow them to enter the workforce in one of the three priority sectors that are drivers of the East Bay economy: Advanced Manufacturing, Biosciences and Transportation & Logistics.
The Career Ladders Project (CLP) is a partner of DBS, and provides technical assistance to ensure the overall goal of an integrated, industry-driven workforce development system in the East Bay. Through regional pathway development, CLP assists key stakeholders in the redesign and development of cohesive employment and training systems responsive to the growing needs of industry.
As part of the Design it-Build it-Ship it (DBS) initiative, the Career Ladders Project and IMPAQ International created the following report on career pathway development across 10 East Bay community colleges. This report highlights the accomplishments of the DBS consortium and its continuing work to establish effective and rigorous academic and technical pathways to success.
