Deborah Moy

Ms. Moy has more than 25 years experience as an educator, researcher and consultant to universities, foundations, business and organized labor. She creates successful public/private partnerships which leverage multiple sources of funding and resources, to create career ladders for working adults. Ms. Moy is the founder and principal partner of Balance.point Strategic Services, specializing in participatory, contextual learning based on workplace needs and learner demographics, for bottom line results. Her current work includes ground-breaking learning initiatives in the hospitality, public transportation, and oil industries; as well as research and curriculum development for a national anti-poverty initiative.

Ms. Moy has served California community colleges in various capacities including department chair, faculty, apprenticeship coordinator, resource developer and educational policy task force member. She focuses on directing college resources and operations into areas that best serve the educational needs of workers on the job, as industry needs evolve. Ms. Moy represented community colleges on a California State Department of Education School to Career Curriculum Framework Committee. Ms. Moy holds a master’s degree in Organizational Development and Systems Management and a bachelor’s degree in Labor Studies. She is an American Cultures Fellow for the University of California, Berkeley.
